An extract from a Polish version of the Little Prince translated by Krystyna rodowska and published by parramón paidotribo,.
Kiedy miałem sześć lat, zobaczyłem pewnego razu wspaniały obrazek, zamiesz- czony w książce o dziewiczej puszczy, noszącej tytuł Historie prawdziwe. przedstawiał on węża boa, pożerającego jakieś dzikie zwierzę. A oto kopia tego rysunku:
When I was six years old, in a book about primeval forests, called 'True Stories from Nature', I saw a magnificant drawing. It was a picture of a boa constrictor in the act of swallowing an animal. Here is a copy of the drawing.
Ojcze Nasz, któryś jest w niebiesiech,
święć się imię twoje;
przyjdż królestwo twoje,
bądż wola twoja,
jako w niebie tak i na ziemi.
Chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj,
i odpuść nam nasze winy,
jako i my odpuszczamy naszym winowajcom.
I nie wódż nas w pokuszenie,
ale nas zbaw ode złego
Amen
The language is inflected, nouns have three genders, and adjectives agree with nouns. So, for instance, 'Polish film(s)' may be 'polski film', 'polskiego filmu', 'polskim filmom' .. depending on the construction.
