Germanic languages

The Germanic languages are part of the Indo-Europoean language family, and descended from Proto-Germanic.

The language are split into the following branches: East (now extinct), North and West (including English and German).

West Germanic languages

Afrikaans, Doric, Dutch, English, German, Luxembourgish, North Frisian, Saterland Frisian, West Frisian

North Germanic languages

Danish, Faroese, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish
