Italian Sentences. 1 to 10

These are the first of five hundred basic Italian sentences. Learning large numbers of sentences in different languages is not for everyone, but it can be a great way to improve your language skills. Not only do you learn sentences (that ideally you can use), but you increase vocabulary.

Another use for sentences, and of course this depends very much on how you like to learn, and how your mind works, is to analyse simple grammatical structures.

I'm using Come vanno le cose? 'How are things' as an example. If we translate this literally, the meaning is 'How are going the things'.

OK. I must admit, it would help to learn some basic Italian grammar to make the most of doing this, and it might not be for you, but if is it, it can provide hours of fun;)

Continuing with the example, cose 'things' is the plural of cosa 'thing'.

Le is the feminine plural of the definite article.

Vanno from the verb andare 'to go' means 'they go'.

I could go on, but then I enjoy parsing Latin:)

Joking aside, and again it depends on you, this is a way of taking what is an otherwise passive exercise and learning actively.
