Learning languages with language pairs
The language pairs enable you to learn a new language through one that you already know - apart from your native language:)
Learning languages through sentences is a useful technique for improving vocabulary and fluency (at least when you start learning),
and so I've been adding sentences in different languages as and when.
Sentences discussed some bits and pieces to be aware of when using the sentences on this site, and I'm not going to repeat myself here.
If you are using the language pairs on Surface Languages, then it's worth knowing the following:
In some language there can be a difference depending on whether a man or woman is speaking, or being spoken to and if you use the sentences these are in the main marked, with both translations being given.
This is not the case with the language pairs, as it was too time-consuming to try and match all the various combinations.
The sentences in the language pairs assume that a man is speaking and is speaking to another man.
Advantages of using language pairs
You can learn one language while practising and maintaining another.
If English isn't your first language, and the language pair exists in your native language, you might prefer it this way.
It is pretty cool.
